Pharmacy
Our pharmacy team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist provides comprehensive pharmacy services to multiple patient populations.
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist has a long history of excellence and innovation in pharmacy practice. Our certified technicians and clinical pharmacists work together to ensure comprehensive, personalized, and convenient pharmacy services.
Medication safety is the top priority at Wake Forest Baptist. A clinical pharmacist is involved in your care, and will verify that the medication you take home is the correct dose for you and is scheduled at the right time. This decreases the chance for unwanted drug duplications or interactions. Working together, we help you get the benefits you expect from your medications.
"Providing excellent patient care is the main priority here at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist."
Compounding
Our pharmacy strives to meet the needs of your family and can proudly compound your medications.
Compounding is the ability to prepare personalized medication for our patients. Many medications come in a tablet form, which is not suitable for all patients.
Our pharmacist can take the active ingredients and create a prescription best suited for each patient. Compounding medications is also great for kids and pets!

Medication Take-Back Services
Is your medicine cabinet full of expired, unused or leftover medication you no longer use?
Seven of our Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist retail pharmacy locations have installed MedSafe® drug collection receptacles which offer a secure, confidential and convenient way to dispose of unwanted controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter medicines.
Drop-off boxes are available during each pharmacy’s regular business hours.
To drop-off unwanted medications, simply follow these instructions:
- Check the list of accepted items located on the receptacle.
- Leave medicines in original containers, when possible.
- Drop medicines into the receptacle. Note: If the receptacle is locked, please DO NOT leave medications outside of the box.
Drop-off boxes accept human and veterinary medications in pill, liquid (less than 4 oz.) or patch form. Aerosols (inhalers), sharps containers, needles/syringes, batteries, medical devices or illicit drugs are NOT accepted. Pharmacy staff cannot personally accept medications you wish to discard.

The department is also a training site for several local pharmacy technician certification programs. Our pharmacists direct the pharmacy curricula for the Wake Forest University School of Medicine MD and PA programs, while providing numerous lectures to students in both programs.
